I explore the threshold or the liminal spaces between inside and outside in terms of constructed spaces and the body. The walls of the ‘white cube’ of the art space become a membrane, like skin that contains and articulates the inner and outer worlds. in the same way as a door in a house or a national border.
The Project awarded the First Grand Prize at 15th Asian Art Biennial 2012
The project deals with the self-internal alienation in a society where fundamentalism and fanaticism comprise its main structure. The complicated political, social and religious circumstances resulted from this fundamental tribal mentality leads to an absence of diversity and a domination of one thought, one discipline and approach. This creates a gap between the individual and his/her society. Therefore, the individual experiences a state of isolation and alienation that creates a fragmented society I explore the threshold or the liminal spaces between inside and outside in terms of constructed spaces and the body.
